he Crooked House

The Crooked House in Sopot is an iconic, wave-shaped building located on the city’s main promenade. It attracts not only tourists, but also architects and art enthusiasts from around the world.

The Crooked House Food Hall  is a vibrant dining destination that brings together flavors from around the globe, a unique atmosphere, and a space for social gatherings and cultural events. Stylish interiors inspired by the seaside setting create a welcoming environment—perfect for families, relaxation, and shared experiences.

This modern food and dining space in the heart of Sopot was fully designed and delivered by the ESPES OFFICE team. As the General Contractor, we executed the project using the Design & Build approach.

Applied solutions

The Investor’s decision to adopt the “Design & Build” system—where a single contractor is responsible for both the design and the comprehensive turnkey delivery of the project—shortened timelines, optimized costs, improved coordination, and minimized risks. This approach provided the Investor with a single business partner and ensured the success of the entire project.

We would like to thank the Investor for the trust placed in the ESPES OFFICE team and are proud of the shared success of the Crooked House Food Hall—the culinary heart of Sopot!

Solutions

How does the Design & Build system work?

  • The Investor defines their needs: outlining functionality, technical requirements, and budget, and communicates them to the general contractor.
  • The contractor takes responsibility: develops the concept, prepares the full construction and detailed design, and handles all formalities (permits).
  • Parallel stages: design and construction can proceed simultaneously, accelerating the project.
  • Flexibility: the contractor can optimize the design and solutions during construction, adapting them to site conditions without the need to amend the contract.

 Key advantages for the Investor:

  • Single point of contact: one partner, one contract, one responsibility
  • Time and cost savings: a shorter process, improved logistics, and avoidance of conflicts between the designer and the contractor.
  • Reduced Investor involvement: fewer logistical and coordination responsibilities.
  • Quality assurance: a single company is responsible for the entire process—from concept to completed facility.
